2010 CalABA Award for Outstanding Contributions Thursday, Feb. 18 • 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. (more info.) Dr. Nevin is Professor Emeritus of Psychology, University of New Hampshire. In 1954, he obtained a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University, and served in the US Coast Guard from 1954 to 1959. He began graduate studies in experimental psychology at Columbia University in 1959, received an M.A. in 1961, and a Ph.D. in 1963. From 1963 to 1968, he was Assistant Professor of Psychology at Swarthmore College. In 1968, he joined the Columbia University Psychology Department as an Associate Professor, becoming a Professor in 1969. From 1972 to 1995, he was Professor of Psychology, University of New Hampshire. In 1995, he retired to Martha's Vineyard, where he maintains his research interests and participates in community housing and conservation projects. His honors include Distinguished University Professor, University of New Hampshire, 1991; Basic Research Award, Division 25, American Psychological Association, 1999; Award for Impact of Science on Application, Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis, 2004; Don Hake Basic/Applied Research Award, Division 25, American Psychological Association, 2004. He was a cofounder of the Society for Quantitative Analysis of Behavior in 1978. Behavioral Momentum: Equations and Applications Friday, Feb. 19 • 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. (more info.) Dr. Peterson is Professor of Psychology at Western Michigan University. She earned her doctorate in Special Education at The University of Iowa in 1994. Her primary research interests are choice making, functional communication training, reinforcement-based interventions for children with problem behavior, and concurrent schedules of reinforcement in the treatment of severe problem behavior and in functional analysis of problem behavior. She also has interests in applications of behavior analysis to educational interventions and teacher training. She currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, is a Senior Editor for Education and Treatment of Children, and is Senior Associate Editor of Behavior Analysis in Practice. seeking professionals with training and experience in behavior analysis will also
be available to meet with prospective job applicants. This is a great opportunity
for job seekers to learn about employment opportunities, and for employers to
access the talented pool of Western Region behavior analysts.
