Great news: Gov. Brown signs SB 946!

Today Governor Brown signed SB 946 into law. This will have the effect of mandating health plans to cover ABA treatments for autism supervised by Board Certified Behavior Analysts. It will go into effect July 1, 2012. It is the next step in helping make ABA treatment available to more Californians who need our services. (Click here to read SB 946.)

We thank Sen Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and his senior staff who worked so tirelessly for many years to provide this coverage. CalABA will be sending out a survey to provider agencies and private practitioners within the next few days. If you are a senior member of an ABA provider agency or sole practitioner, please take the CalABA survey so we can share some important information to help behavior analysts prepare to provide services covered by health plans.

Watch for news of a CalABA pre-conference workshop on insurance to be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012. This workshop will be provided by members of the CalABA Insurance Work Group and will provide you with the practical information you need to become a provider for health plans.
