CalABA Policy on Providing Retroactive Continuing Education Documentation for Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysts

Adopted by the Board of Directors May 13, 2005

Consistent with the policies of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), CalABA reminds Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysts that they are responsible for maintaining documentation of their own continuing education (CE) activities for purposes of maintaining and renewing their certification. As a provider of BACB Type 2 Continuing Education, CalABA is responsible for issuing certificates following completion of Type 2 CE events it offers, for maintaining records of its CE events, and for providing an annual summary of CE activities to the BACB.

As a service to Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysts who have obtained Type 2 Continuing Education from CalABA, the organization will provide replacement documentation of previously earned CE units with appropriate documentation. Additionally, fees will be charged to cover the costs of searching the CalABA records, duplicating, and mailing CE certificates. CalABA’s policy on retroactive CE documentation is as follows:

All requests must be made in writing and can be sent to CalABA via mail, email, or fax. Requests must include the certificant’s full name, address, phone number, email address, BCBA or BCABA certificate number, and documentation specified in items 1 through 3 below.

  1. For CE units accrued at the 2006 conference, requests must be submitted BY DECEMBER 31, 2006 and must be accompanied by
    1. proof of payment (cancelled checks, credit card statements, etc.) of the conference registration fee and the CE fee AND
    2. official CalABA CE sign-in/sign-out sheets provided at the conference and endorsed by the room monitor for each event for which CEUs are sought.

  2. For CE units accrued from 2000 through 2005 for which the certificant has official CalABA CE sign-in/sign-out sheets endorsed by room monitors, requests must be accompanied by ALL of the following for EACH YEAR for which CE certificates are requested:
    1. copies of the sign-in/sign-out sheets
    2. proof of payment (cancelled checks, credit card statements, etc.) of conference registration and CE fee
    3. a fee of $50.00 plus $ 5.00 per CE unit

Example fee calculation for retroactive CE certificates for 2003 and 2004 accompanied by endorsed sign-in/sign-out sheets:

    2003 -- 15 CEUs: $50.00 + $75.00 (15 CEUs x $5.00) = $125.00
    2004 -- 10 CEUs: $50.00 + $50.00 (10 CEUs x $5.00) = $100.00
TOTAL SUBMITTED TO CALABA: = $225.00

  3. For CE units accrued from 2000 through 2004 for which the certificant does NOT have official CalABA CE sign-in/sign-out sheets, requests must be accompanied by ALL of the following for EACH YEAR for which CE certificates are requested:
    1. proof of payment (cancelled checks, credit card statements, etc.) of the conference registration
    2. a fee of $100.00 plus $ 10.00 per CE unit. (NOTE: Since you have no sign-in/sign-out sheets, you may not know how many CE units you earned, so pay the $100 fee and CalABA will inform you of the balance due after determining how many CE units you earned.)

Example fee calculation for retroactive CE certificates for 2003 and 2004 NOT accompanied by endorsed sign-in/sign-out sheets:

    2003 -- 15 CEUs: $100.00 + $150.00 (15 CEUs x $10.00) = $250.00
    2004 -- 10 CEUs: $100.00 + $100.00 (10 CEUs x $10.00) = $200.00
TOTAL SUBMITTED TO CALABA: = $450.00
