Notes from the Board - 2017

Your Board In Action
Sep 19th, 2017

Your Board has been very busy! Check out the latest Notes from the Board to hear the latest.

Greetings from our new president.

Greetings CalABA members and friends! I wanted to introduce myself to all of you as I officially started my term as CalABA President on July 1st. I have been serving on the CalABA Board for the last 4-years. During that time our membership numbers and conference attendance has grown immensely as more people enter the field of behavior analysis. I expect this growth trend to continue as our academic programs remain in high demand and the funding sources for our services remain stable. This is definitely a thrilling time to be in our field. The primary goal of my presidential term is to further CalABA's mission of advancing, promoting and protecting the science and practice of behavior analysis through creating and sustaining engagement in our community. To that end, I want to ensure CalABA remains transparent and accessible. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have a question, concern or simply want to say "hi". My email is: [email protected]. Thanks so much for your continued support of CalABA. I'm looking forward to an exciting year!

Warmly,

Sarah Trautman-Eslinger, M.A., BCBA

Legislative Updates

AB 1074, which CalABA is sponsoring to help cleanup language from SB 946, has passed through both the Assembly and Senate successfully and is currently on the Governor's desk (hopefully) awaiting for signature. Stay tuned for updates!

Here we go. Again.

The effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act is again under way. Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana are rapidly putting forth another repeal bill and pushing for a quick vote, though the bill itself has not yet been fully analyzed by the Congressional Budget Office.

CalABA remains concerned that repeal or drastic reform of the ACA would be very harmful to our field, and more importantly, to the lives of those we treat each day. Please consider reaching out to your federal legislators to express your concern and respectfully ask for a “No” vote on this crucial issue.
