Job Description + Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist the Behavior Specialist with direct observation of students. Essential Function.

2. Possess an understanding of and a willingness to work with challenging students with high behavior support needs. Essential Function

3. Gather and collect initial and on-going behavior data, follow provided protocols, and document collected data pursuant to guidelines and parameters provided. Essential Function.

4. Implement and model a variety of common behavior strategies, including but not limited to:

Social Skills instruction

Individually targeted skills instruction

Visual schedules

Differential reinforcement

Token economy

Discrete Trial Training

Prompting hierarchies and behavior shaping – Essential Functions

5. Provide student behavior intervention support on multiple sites and while in the community. Essential Function

6. Participate in ongoing training as required and provided by the school district. Essential Function

7. Demonstrate the capabilities of taking specific direction, carrying out those directions, and providing feedback to supervisors on the success and outcomes of following those directions. Essential Function

8. Capable and proficient in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, students’ parents, colleagues and supervisors. Essential Function

9. Support the teacher with crisis management and behavior challenges. Essential Function

10. Accepting of professional, objective performance feedback with an ability to reflect and modify actions as needed to better support students. Essential Function

11. Provide modeling and training to other site staff. Essential Function

12. Assist students with toileting, feeding, grooming, and promoting independence. Essential Function

13. Assist students to and from busses, pushing wheelchairs when necessary. May provide behavior intervention support on the school bus as warranted per an Individual Education Plan. Essential Function

14. Perform ongoing physical activities, including transferring and lifting students using proper lifting techniques and/or equipment. Essential Function

15. Maintain confidentiality of student information and records. Essential Function

16. Under supervision of a qualified school nurse, may provide specialized healthcare procedures as described in Education Code Section 49423.5. Essential Function

REPORTS TO: Behavior Specialist, Site Administrator, Assigned Teacher

Salary, Benefits, + Opportunities

$21.03/hr - $26.26/hr (6 steps)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licenses and Certifications:

 Registered Behavior Technician Certification.

 Possess a valid California Driver’s License, insurance and a working vehicle.

 Must successfully complete Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training within three months of hire and maintain annual recertification.

 Possess and maintain current certification of CPR/First Aid training.

Education and Experience:

 High School Diploma required. Associate of Arts Degree, or 60 semester hours or equivalent of college training in Applied Behavioral Analysis or related topics preferred.

 Minimum two years working in an educational environment, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) clinic and/or home program settings supporting student development.

 Experience with specialized populations with behavior needs.

 Experience working in intense individualized programs addressing specific instructional and behavioral goals.
