Job Description + Responsibilities

Position Summary:

An individual support team is seeking a collaborative and experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide behavioral and clinical leadership to a team of professionals working directly with one adult client who receives 2:1 support in her home and community.

The BCBA is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving individualized behavioral and skill-development supports and activities to promote the resident’s quality of life, independence, social experiences, and community involvement. In addition, the BCBA will work closely with a team of DSPs to develop their competencies in delivering high-quality support services through direction observation, modeling, and feedback to ensure consistency in support implementation across all team members.

The BCBA will work under the clinical direction of a Ph.D., BCBA-D and Lead Clinical Consultant who has supported the client for several years. The BCBA will collaborate with the clinical consultant and leadership team to identify goals and help develop, implement, and evaluate practical strategies.

This is not an agency position or a general caseload role. The BCBA will be hired directly by the client’s team and will provide services exclusively to this client as part of the position.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and update behavioral assessment, as clinically indicated, and collaborate with the Lead Clinical Consultant to develop proactive strategies and plans to ensure successful participation in daily activities and decrease behavioral escalation.

• Develop and oversee individualized programming design to develop functional and valuable quality of life skills, including but not limited to independence, social competence, activities of daily living, recreation, relationship development and social interaction, community participation, and health and wellness.

• Ensure all skill development and treatment strategies are consistent with evidence-based procedures, socially valid, least restrictive, and consistent with protecting the individual’s rights and preferences.

• Research programs and activities that would facilitate the client’s skill development and achievement of individualized goals, as well as assist in developing strategies and provide training to team members to ensure the client’s success in new programs and activities.

• Assist with oversight and training of all DSPs, across all shifts, at the residence and in the community to ensure clinical and professional competence and consistency in implementation through direct observation and the use of instruction, modeling, and feedback for both skill development support strategies and behavioral challenges.

• Assess DSP performance using data-based and other measures to determine competencies and identify new goals for the staff members to ensure the delivery of high-quality support services.

• Collaborate with the all team members, including the DSPs, Clinical Consultant, Leadership Team, and guardians / family members to ensure quality support services.

• Regularly meet and share information with the Clinical Consultant and Leadership Team to identify priorities for, and evaluate progress of, the support team and the client.

• Communicate observations, concerns, and recommendations clearly and promptly to the Clinical Consultant and Leadership Team.

• Participate in team meetings and clinical consultations as needed.

• Ensure that all supports remain person-centered, respectful, and responsive to the client’s communication, preferences, and quality of life.

Schedule and Travel

The client receives support 7 days a week, 24 hours a day in her residence and in a variety of community settings. The BCBA must be able to observe and support staff across a variety of shifts, days, and times. This will include occasional evenings and weekends.

The BCBA may also be asked to meet the client and team at different home or community locations. Mileage reimbursement is available for approved work-related travel.

Employment Structure

A qualified individual with an established business and appropriate business license may provide services as an independent contractor, subject to applicable requirements. Otherwise, the selected candidate will be hired as an employee of the client.

• Build positive working relationships with the client, support staff, Clinical Consultant and Leadership Team.

• Understand that successful support depends on trust, consistency, communication, dignity and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and current BCBA certification.

• Experience supporting adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

• Experience training and coaching direct-support staff in home and community settings.

• Strong communication, teaching, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of person-centered, trauma-informed and positive behavioral-support practices,

• A commitment to a team approach, ethical standards and continuous quality improvement.

• Ability to maintain required documentation and meet all applicable professional and background-check requirements.

• Reliable transportation and the flexibility to work across different locations, shifts, days and times.
