Job Description + Responsibilities

Program Overview:

The Intensive Transition Service Team (ITS) is a recovery-oriented, holistic approach to supporting individuals who are diagnosed with a mental illness and an intellectual disability. This program offers a team approach to service coordination and treatment for individuals who have encountered challenges succeeding in more traditional treatment settings.

The ITS focus is to address transitional support and continuity of care for the individuals supported by the team. The model employs a community-based, team-delivered approach. Service delivery is achieved through integrated case management, medication management, mental health treatment, behavioral assessment, and subsequent development of positive behavioral support plans. ITS provides intensive short-term treatment with a 12 to 18 month average treatment length.

Services Location:

Services are provided where the individual is at the time of need and will include the IMD’s, Regional Centers, Merakey offices, community residential placement, and local community settings.

Position Description:

As a member of the ITS Program, the BCBA is qualified in a mental health profession, and possesses the clinical skills and experience to assess, plan, develop, coordinate and provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services to program individuals with BH and IDD diagnosis (Dually Diagnosed) under the clinical supervision of the Program Director and Psychiatrist. Have experience supervising non-clinical staff.

Other Requirements

The Behavior Specialist must demonstrate through the interview process, knowledge and experience working with both individuals who have an intellectual disability as well as a serious mental illness; have knowledge and preferably be certified, in one of the established behavior modification techniques, such as Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) or Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA) as well as have experience with EBP such as CBT and Trauma Informed Care; and have prior experience providing clinical supervision to non-clinical staff.
