Job Description + Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The BCBA utilizes discretion and independent judgment in carrying out job duties and goals of the organization.

The BCBA develops, delivers, and monitors individualized applied behavior analytic programs for individuals with developmental disabilities. The goal of our program is to improve the quality of life for each individual and their family members. Behavior Consultants are responsible for the performance of registered behavior technicians (RBTs) and the facilitation of skill generalization by training parents and other caretakers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervises RBTs by carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assessing the needs of RBTs; providing ongoing feedback; providing necessary support required in order to provide quality individualized behavior programs; troubleshoots weaknesses and provides one on one teaching to increase their knowledge and abilities; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Oversees client hours provided and achieves required client hours.

Provides clients with on-site supervision.

Assesses the needs of clients and develops individualized behavior programs accordingly.

Oversee therapy teams to ensure client success, reviews data, provides recommendations and monitors progress.

Develops, implements and monitors behavior intervention plans and provides ongoing behavior consultation to address behavior excesses and promotes independence.

Provides effective communication and collaboration with parents and staff members which are critical components of the position to ensure consistent and effective implementation of behavior services.

Serve as member of the IEP’s and PTM’s to provide objectives, behavior intervention plans, and recommendations for comprehensive goals for their clients to be implemented in the home.

Continuously oversees the child’s progress and troubleshoot to create the most effective treatment plan for the team.

Monitors and modifies treatment plans.

Conduct workshops for families, schools, parents and teachers in ABA.

Interfaces with adjunct service providers and interfaces with representatives from schools, insurance companies, and other agencies.

Writes and approves reports including: assessment, update, exit and termination reports according to timelines and formats provided.

Attends and observes client’s in-home program. The behavior consultant will monitor curriculum, review the learning tree, monitor data collection, and observe program implementation.

Conducts competencies, evaluations, and level reviews as need for all subordinates.

Discuss concerns and observations of care providers (i.e., parents).

Attends and participates in conferences and meetings.

Attends monthly consult meetings with supervisors to review caseload, duties and needs.

Conducts monthly behavior consultant meetings.

Conducts monthly consultant/lead paraprofessional meetings.

Maintains central reach calendar.

Maintains accurate billing records.

Updates HR with valid personal records.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Center Based and Preschool – BCBA

In addition to the duties listed above, the Center Based and Preschool BCBA also:

Hold monthly parent meetings to target the generalization of the client’s skills and teaching techniques.

Communicate with other consultants and supervisors when leaving the center.

Serve as recess and lunch support.

Open and/or close the center.

Wear walkie-talkie at all times while at the center.

Weekly consults in the preschool for all preschool clients.

Other Requirements

Supervision:

Prior supervisory experience is not required, but preferred. Behavior Consultants are required to provide supervision and direction to two or more RBT’s.

Education and/or Experience:

BCBA Position: Currently holds BCBA.

A minimum of two years experience in related field and case experience with children with ASD and other development disabilities.

Physical Demands:

Ability to run, stand, sit, stoop, crawl, kneel, reach, push, and lift a child weighing 50 pounds; normal visual, vocal & hearing acuity; use of a computer; ability to travel via automobile.

Background Checks and/or Licensing:

Must be at least 18 years old; criminal background check; reference checks; provide a negative TB test; provide immunization records; education verification; current drivers license and proof of valid auto insurance.

Other Requirements:

Must have reliable means of transportation; availability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week; and have access to a computer with knowledge of internet, e-mail and Microsoft Office applications.
