We are happy to announce that CalABA, along with a coalition of impacted providers, has worked closely with the California Department of Education (CDE) and leadership within the legislature to successfully extend the exemption requiring an audit for NPA/NPSs for one more year. 

This means that organizations will be allowed to submit their applications without the audit and qualify for “Conditional” certification for the 2017-18 school year.

While CalABA supports efforts to increase accountability and transparency, we feel as though the new requirement posed significant challenges for our membership. As a result, we will be introducing a policy bill next year with the goal of permanently rectifying the problem.
